Out of doors

I spent the morning happily replacing the brake cables and housing on the mountain bike and then I re-shod it with the faithful winter Nokians. This is the 10th winter season for these Nokians I realized while putting them on. Riding them as though on rails on a frozen Pushaw Lake is an indelible memory.

Working in the basement on bikes is therapeutic in my universe. But not nearly as effective as actually getting to ride outside. Which we did! The first outdoor ride after the crash. It was forty degrees Fahrenheit and gray of sky but the ride was absolutely great.

I felt like my bike handling skills were terrible (that is, I felt like I was all over the road like a encephalitic squirrel), but my leg(s) felt fantastic. Standing up on the pedals for the first time was a little painful but weak and let me know how much more work I have to do to get the right leg back to form.
